ABOUT THE PROGRAMME
BSc Fashion Design helps in learning the art of applying aesthetics, clothing construction and natural beauty to clothing and its accessories. This academic, artistic and unique subject domain is influenced by the couture within which it is practiced and can hence take on different creative forms and styles.

The fashion design industry has a lot to offer aspiring professionals. It offers variety and opportunity in terms of work, skills you acquire, and growth potential. As an illustrator, photographer, fashion stylist, graphic designer, CAD expert, costume designer, entrepreneur, fashion consultant or fashion designer, your job will always be open for new opportunities as the industry is constantly evolving. You can also explore working with renowned fashion designers, filmmakers, export/ buying houses, merchandisers, product merchandisers, designers, on-set designing garments or creating illustrations for promotional materials. So whatever your creative inclination may be – BSc Fashion Design has plenty of scope for you to explore!

The industrial exposure brings in industry experts to give special lectures and demonstrations, and visits to merchandising houses and garment factories. Summer internships complete the hands-on experiential part of the curriculum. At the end of the programme, the students culminate their journey with a full display of their designs through a curated fashion event that gives them the confidence to step into the professional arena.

Merit, IUCET / CUET/NIFT / UCEED / NID / State-Level and National-Level Entrance Exams.

Program Outcomes (PO)

Fashion Design knowledge (PO1)

Apply the knowledge of Pattern making,Fabric science, designing fundamentals, and an Design specialization to the solution of complex Design problems.

Problem analysis (PO2)

Identify, formulate, review research, and analyze complex Design problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of, natural sciences, and manmade sciences.

Design / development of solutions(PO3)

Design solutions for complex design problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

Conduct investigations of complex problems(PO4)

Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design process, analysis and interpretation of design elements, and synthesis of the information to provide a valuable product.

Modern tool usage(PO5)

Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern machineries and digital software including prediction and modeling to complex Designing activities with an understanding of the limitations.

The Designer and society(PO6)

Understand the impact of the professional designing solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

Environment and sustainability(PO7)

BSc Fashion Design teaches the students to apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the design practice.

Ethics(PO8)

Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

Individual and teamwork(PO9)

Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the designing and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

The PEOs are established through the following process steps:

PEO1

Vision and Mission of the Institute & Department are taken into consideration to interact with various stake holders, and establish the PEO’s.

PEO2

The Head of the Department, Program Coordinator and other Senior Faculty prepares the draft version of PEOs and PO‘s.

PEO3

The draft version is discussed with stakeholders and their views are collected by the Program co-coordinator.

PEO4

The Program Assessment Committee reviews and analyzes the PEOs and Po’s and submits its Recommendations to the Departmental Advisory Board.

PEO5

The Departmental Advisory Board deliberates on the recommendations and freezes the PEOs and POs and submits them to the BOG for final approval.

Empower the students to acquire technological knowhow by connecting disciplinary and interdisciplinary aspects of biotechnology.
