Thus, Computer Science & Engineering focuses on the design, implementation and
management of information systems of both hardware and software processes. Computer
Scientists and engineers specialize in the theory of computation and the design of
computational systems. They also work with most other domains of engineering to make
their processes better and more efficient.
The two-year M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering programme offered by the
Department of Computer Science & Engineering is a professionally-oriented and
industry-aligned degree course. It includes subjects such as Advanced Computer
Architecture, Computer Networks, Distribution Systems, Cloud Computing, Database
Systems, Cloud, Parallel, and Mobile Computing, and Object-Oriented Modelling. The
second year is devoted to pursuing electives of choice so that the students focus on
topics of their interest within the larger subject area.
Research, research reviews and colloquiums are held as part of the programme in every
semester. The students also prepare a preliminary thesis in the third semester, which
they complete in the final semester. Workshops with guest lecturers and industry
professionals, science fests to display project work, presentations and viva voce and
innovative ideas discussion and pitching are essential part of this master’s
degree. Company visits are also done so that students can interact with professionals
and understand the real-life scope of this domain.
