“Smart and Climate Resilient Practices for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security.”

The Department of Agriculture, Invertis University, Bareilly successfully organized a 6-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) from 14th to 19th July 2025 on the theme “Smart and Climate Resilient Practices for Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security.” The programme aimed at enhancing the knowledge and teaching competency of faculty members through expert lectures on emerging trends and innovations in agriculture.

Each day of the FDP featured a session by a renowned expert:

Day 1 – Dr. Mahesh Chander, IVRI, Bareilly

Topic: Entrepreneurship for Agriculture Development

He highlighted the importance of agripreneurship in boosting rural employment and shared real-life success stories of agricultural startups.

Day 2 – Prof. Amit Bhatnagar, GBPUA&T Pantnagar, Uttarakhand

Topic: Soil Fertility Management

Prof. Bhatnagar emphasized integrated nutrient management and the use of precision technologies for sustainable soil health.

Day 3 – Prof. S. S. Tripathi, Dean, Agriculture, Invertis University

Topic: Farm Power and Machinery Sector

The lecture covered recent innovations in farm machinery and its role in reducing labor dependence and increasing productivity.

Day 4 – Prof. K. K. Gaikwad, IIT Roorkee

Topic: Bio-Polymers for Sustainable Food Packaging

Prof. Gaikwad discussed biodegradable alternatives to plastic and their role in sustainable food supply chains.

Day 5 – Dr. Ayon Tarfdar, IVRI, Bareilly

Topic: Application of Sensors and Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture

He introduced advanced tools like AI, IoT, and sensors for improving farm decision-making and productivity.

Day 6 – Dr. Mukesh Singh, Principal Scientist, IVRI, Bareilly

Topic: Mechanization – A Catalyst for Sustainable Livestock Farming

Dr. Singh emphasized the use of automation and mechanization in improving livestock productivity and environmental sustainability.

The FDP provided an excellent platform for faculty members to gain practical insights into smart agriculture, sustainability, and modern technologies. The programme concluded with an interactive session and vote of thanks to all the eminent speakers and participants.
