Visit to gain practical exposure to the process of sericulture and silk production

The Department of Fashion Design, Invertis University, organized an educational visit to the Office of Assistant Director, Sericulture, Pilibhit, Bareilly, on 28th March 2025. A group of 23 students, accompanied by faculty members, participated in this visit to gain practical exposure to the process of sericulture and silk production. The objective was to enhance their understanding of silkworm rearing, cocoon processing, and the transformation of raw silk into yarn, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world application.

Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed by Shri Daya Shankar Singh, Assistant Director, Sericulture, Pilibhit, and his team. They provided an informative session on the different types of silk, including Mulberry, Tussar, Eri, and Muga, explaining their unique characteristics and uses. The team guided students through the entire silk production process, from farm to yarn, showcasing silkworm rearing, cocoon formation, silk fiber extraction, and yarn production techniques.

Students had the opportunity to observe and interact with industry professionals, gaining hands-on experience and insights into modern advancements in sericulture. The visit was highly engaging and informative, allowing students to connect their academic studies with practical industry applications.
