Department of B.Com, Faculty of Management, Invertis University, Bareilly organized a guest lecture on ‘Digital Currency with special reference to Central Bank Digital Currency’ on 28th September, 2023 for the students of B.Com (H) and B.Com (3rd Year). Mr. Vineet Kumar, Corporate Affairs Investigator, Axis Bank was invited as a guest speaker.
He started the session with deliberation on what actually the difference between a fiat and non-fiat currency. He also discussed the increasing popularity of crypto currencies and the risk related to investing in them. He cited the decentralised structure and lack of proper regulation as reason for it.
During the session, he explained the unique features of RBI’s Digital Currency for both Retail and Wholesale market. He also explained different type of challenges lying ahead in replacing physical currency in India completely by digital currency.
The session was very interactive and productive.
